“In the south of France, island happened off the coast, Saint-Tropez when I’m waving to the folks.”
– Asap Rocky
After spending a few days relaxing in scenic La Roquette Sur-Siagne, we woke up early to make the two hour drive to luxurious Saint Tropez. The plan was to leave around mid-day, grab lunch, wander around the city and head back before rush hour traffic. Of course, we slept in, lost track of time and jumped in our Fiat 500x two hours after our intended time.
We took the route without tolls which took us through the gorgeous rolling hills of the Cote D’Azur. Driving at such a high altitude on winding roads without any barricades was exciting for me but quite the scare for Amara. A number of times we had to pull over to let the speeding sports cars pass us. I didn’t mind too much as the views, like the one below were a delight.
“I like South Beach, but I’m in Saint Tropez.”
Once we parked the car we walked to the center of the old town where we soon realized that every nook and cranny is picturesque. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone is rich and there are indeed “locals.”
“Alone out in Saint-Tropez. Lookin’ as fine as a damn Monet.”
Of course, Saint Tropez is one of the best places for a photoshoot so we had to take advantage. The sun hit wifey just right, skin glistening, delightful backdrops and check out her outfit!
“Went down to Saint Tropez
Where Renoir paints the walls.
Described you clearly
But the sky began to fall”
– The Angels
For a lot of people, their introduction to Saint Tropez was most likely a song glorifying the town’s luxury. However, there’s more to it than that. The town has a lot of history that often goes ignored. Walk up the steps to the Citadel (maybe not in heels). Once you’re up you can go to the maritime museum and the fort or have a little picnic with a view. We opted to just take in the view and what a view it was.
“I’m in Saint-Tropez, on a big boat. Go my way to make a billi like a big goat.”
– Nicki Minaj
Boats, boats and more boats! I don’t know about you but in many ways walking through the harbour felt like #goals to me. I love the beach, and I love being on boats. Amara is now fully aware that in a few years when we win the lottery we are buying a yacht and sailing to Saint Tropez. Watch this space people!
“No matter where I go. No matter where I stay. My Heart will always be Somewhere in Saint-Tropez.”
– Jean Roch
The wonderful thing about a day trip to Saint Tropez is that the journey there is beautiful and so is the journey back. On the drive back we were captivated by the gorgeous blue waters along the coast. It turned out that we were in a nearby town; Saint-Maxime. If we had more time we’d have explored this town as well but as you do when you don’t have time, you pull over, take a few scenic pictures and call it a day.
Saint Tropez was truly beautiful. You may think that only the rich go to Saint Tropez, or maybe only the rich can enjoy Saint Tropez. This couldn’t be further from the truth. There’s a something for everybody in Saint Tropez, go and tell them that the Uches sent you.
