It’s harvest season!

There’s no better way to spend a weekend than to visit one of the many farms in the General Toronto Area.

Fall has always been our favorite season, and there’s no better way to kick off the season than with a trip to a pumpkin patch. Last year, our family of four decided to visit Springridge Farm’s Pumpkin Patch, located just outside of Toronto.

It turned out to be an unforgettable experience. With tractor rides, playgrounds, a petting zoo, and, of course, the perfect pumpkins, there was really something for everyone in the family to indulge in.

In this blog post, we’ll share our wonderful adventure at Springridge Farm and offer some useful tips for parents looking to enjoy a similar outing with their children this fall.

Our Springridge Farm Experience

We visited Springridge Farm Milton in October- right in the middle of pumpkin season. We were thrilled to take in the crisp air and enjoy the beautiful fall scenery when we visited the farm.

The Perfect Pumpkin Patch

As soon as we arrived at Springridge Farm, we were greeted by rows upon rows of bright orange pumpkins, creating a colorful and festive scene. Our two sons couldn’t contain their excitement and immediately started searching for the “perfect” pumpkins to take home. The variety of sizes and shapes meant everyone found their ideal pumpkin, and we couldn’t resist taking a few extras for carving and decorating.

Fun and Games

One of the highlights of our visit was the wide range of activities available for children of all ages.

What is there to do in the fun farmyard?

The fun farm yard includes:

  • spider web climber
  • tube slides
  • NEW singing tractor
  • NEW crank steam tractor
  • giant sandbox
  • straw play
  • goat mountain
  • escarpment lookout
  • farm animals
  • antique tractors
  • singing chicken show
  • pedal tractors & farm hoppers
  • tractor drawn wagon ride
  • big red Adirondack chairs for parents to sit and relax while children are enjoying the fun farm

The petting zoo was an instant hit, as our boys got to interact with adorable farm animals like goats and bunnies. Watching their faces light up as they petted and fed the animals was truly heartwarming.

The tractor ride was another favorite. We hopped on the tractor-drawn wagon and enjoyed a scenic ride around the farm, complete with explanations about the different crops they grow at Springridge Farm. It was not only fun but educational too!

The expansive playground with slides, swings, and climbing structures kept our sons busy for hours. It was a great way for them to burn off some energy and make new friends. The farm also offered a corn maze, duck races, and other games that made our visit even more enjoyable.

Delicious Treats

No trip to Springridge Farm would be complete without indulging in some delicious treats. We savored fresh apple cider and mouthwatering apple fritters, a true taste of fall. The farm’s bakery and café offered a variety of goodies, from pies and pastries to homemade jams and preserves.

Tips for a Perfect Pumpkin Patch Adventure

If you’re planning to visit a pumpkin patch with your family this fall, here are some useful tips to make your experience enjoyable and stress-free:

  1. Dress for the Weather: Fall weather can be unpredictable, so layer up and wear comfortable shoes for walking on uneven terrain.
  2. Arrive Early: Pumpkin patches can get crowded, especially on weekends. Arriving early in the day can help you beat the crowds.
  3. Bring Cash: Some activities or treats may only accept cash, so it’s a good idea to have some on hand.
  4. Respect the Farm Rules: Teach your children to be respectful of the farm and its animals. Remind them not to pick crops, and always clean up after yourselves.
  5. Take Lots of Photos: Capture those precious moments as a family, and don’t forget to take a family picture with your pumpkins!
